Celebrating our 125th Anniversary in 2004

"Under God, the work of Eastern Canada, begun in 1854, prospered, so that twenty-five years later, in 1879, the Canada (now Ontario) District was organized with 14 pastors, 28 congregations, and 2,036 communicants. Its first president was Pastor John Adam Ernst."

Lutheran Heritage Anniversary Service

In 1987 the Commission on Worship of the Missouri Synod issued a Lutheran Heritage Anniversary Service in commemoration of the centennial anniversary of the death of C. F. W. Walther, founding father of the synod. The service is based upon the Chief Service included in the 1856 agenda or hymnal of the Missouri Synod that was produced under the leadership of Walther. It was this agenda that congregations of our district were using when the Canada District was organized in 1879.

Permission has been received by Pastor Teuscher from Dr. Paul Grime, executive director of the Commission on Worship, to photocopy, scan, edit, etc. this service for use throughout our district during our 125th Anniversary observance.

A master copy of the service, suitable for copying or scanning, along with the music for the organist, is available from the district office.
